Assassin's Creed: Valhalla release date

Assassin’s Creed with Vikings. It was rumored for a long time, and that’s what we ended up getting when Ubisoft revealed its next AC title. There are a lot of reasons to look forward to this one, but let’s get the important stuff out of the way first. And by important stuff, I mean the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla release date.

Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S owners can look forward to playing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on Nov. 10, 2020. That is not only the date the game comes out, but also the launch date for both the Series X and S. It seems Ubisoft wanted to do Microsoft a solid by giving the next-gen consoles a launch game.

In terms of what you can expect from this one in terms of gameplay, there’ll be the usual action-RPG mechanics the modern Assassin’s Creeds are known for, plus a sort of “settlement” aspect that might bring back thoughts of Ezio’s crib in Assassin’s Creed 2 (though Valhalla looks to do it at a much larger scale).

On the graphics side, try not to pass out from excitement, but the game will reportedly run at 4K, 60 frames-per-second on the Xbox Series X. We don’t have clear word on what the frame rate will be for the Series S, though we do hope it manages to hit that same 60 frames-per-second target at 1440p. On the Xbox One and Xbox One X, you can likely expect 30 FPS at 900-1080p and 4K, respectively.

And lastly, for those of you who eventually plan to upgrade from an Xbox One to an Xbox Series console: yes, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla does support Smart Delivery. What does this mean? Basically, you’ll be able to purchase the Xbox One version of the title and upgrade to the Series X or S version at no additional cost. Given Sony’s muddled messaging around this topic lately, it’s important this information is out there so you can make an informed purchasing decision.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla comes to Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on Nov. 10, 2020. You can pre-order the game now at Amazon (paid link).
