Assassin’s Creed Valhalla appears to be getting a 60 FPS mode on Xbox Series S

Don’t look now, but one of the more disappointing aspects of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on Xbox Series S could soon be addressed.

According to Ubisoft, Title Update 1.04 for Valhalla will officially drop tomorrow. Along with a slew of smaller improvements to the game, a Graphics/Performance Mode selector will be added. This will — if I’m reading Ubisoft’s post correctly — show up on both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series X.

If that is indeed the case, choosing “Performance” on Xbox Series S should allow Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to run at 60 frames-per-second (FPS) with adaptive resolution — something it’s not been able to do since it launched on Nov. 10. That’s a pretty big deal.

I don’t have a Series S handy to test this out, unfortunately, but I’ll be sure to track down some footage of Valhalla gameplay on the Series S once the patch drops. More likely than not, I’ll be embedding a Digital Foundry video into a post sometime in the next few days.
