Fortnite Crew, the game’s new subscription, is actually a pretty good deal

Fortnite Crew

News comes by way of IGN that Fortnite is adding a new subscription service to its game. Dubbed “Fortnite Crew,” this $11.99 per month package is presumably targeted at the die-hards — those who play Fortnite, Fortnite, and nothing but Fortnite. The price itself may be a bit hard to swallow for some; you can get an Xbox Game Pass subscription for just $9.99 a month, after all. After perusing what’s included, however, I’m finding this is a pretty awesome deal for Fortnite fans.

To start, Fortnite Crew gives players access to the current season’s Battle Pass. That is typically in the $10 range anyway, so if a season goes two or three months, you’re already a third of the way toward breaking even. Next, subscribers get what’s called a “Fortnite Crew Pack” with exclusive skins and the like. Considering the cost of cosmetics in the game, that might also end up being worthwhile.

The big deal, to me, is the fact that Fortnite Crew will also give players 1,000 V-Bucks per month while they’re subscribed. If you’re someone who buys V-Bucks anyway — and if you buy seasons, you most certainly do — getting roughly $10 of Fortnite‘s currency, plus the Battle Pass, plus exclusive content for $11.99 per month seems like a no-brainer. If you pay for three months of a subscription, you could be getting — and we’re just ballparking here — around $70 in value for close to $36.

Fortnite Crew officially becomes available on Dec. 2, along with the game’s next season. We’ll have a more in-depth analysis on how the subscription stacks up then.
